What's Open & Closed

But Plum's here to keep you informed of what's open and closed around town, and what to do during the off season. Plus, we've got tons of videos to keep you occupied until the wildflowers bloom, the trails dry and the groovin' summer festivals begin.

From the Heart of Colorado Wine Country: John Sutcliffe

Sutcliffe and His Winery
Winery owner John Sutcliffe came from the green hills of England to the golden crags and valleys of southern Colorado, and now makes wine in that unlikely spot.

For this Reed College graduate, the secret to good wines is adding the creative and inventive parts of his personality into the winemaking process. And with a past like Sutcliffe's, that's quite a personality. He went from serving in the British Army to working as a cowboy in Carbondale, CO. He then delved into the restaurant business, reopening Tavern on the Green in New York City, traveled around America and settled down on the beautiful farm that is now Sutcliffe Vineyards.

The winery produces pinot gris, cabernet franc, syrah, viognier, gewurtztraminer, riesling, petit verdot and various blends.

13th Annual Chocolate Lover's Fling

Chocolate Covered Bacon Anyone?

The 13th Anual Chocolate Lover's Fling was a chocolate lover's dream. It had everything from truffles to cake, from delicious beignets to chocolate covered bacon, and even chocolatey udon noodles.

After everyone sampled the goodies and got a sufficient sugar high, DJ Harry drew the costume-clad and dressed-up crowd to the dance floor – where there was even an imprompt breakdancing circle!

A Red Hot and Rio Time

Telluride residents got to take off their winter jackets and slip into something a little feathery at the annual Beaux Arts Ball thrown by the Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities. The Red Hot and Rio Brazilian Carnivale had everything -- the 10,000 Feet Dance Company, tunes from the Hazel Miller Band, featuring the First Lady of Soul herself, dancing, friends, and a silent auction. And Plum was there to catch it all.
