While the rest of the air transportation world may be heading south, United and Delta are now heading southwest - to the Montrose airport. The two major airlines will begin new or expanded service this winter season to and from Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta to the Montrose Airport.
A new daily flight from Chicago is being offered on United, and an additional Wednesday flight from Los Angeles on United and an additional Wednesday flight from Atlanta on Delta are also on the menu. That will be in addition to the daily non-stop service from Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver and Salt Lake City and Saturday flights from Los Angeles, Newark and Atlanta.
It may not be as close as the Telluride airport, but it sure makes it easier to access and get out of Telluride for locals and visitors.
