Giving Thanks This Turkey Day

Gobble, Gobble
Usually on Thanksgiving Day we are carving our first turns of the season before we start carving the turkey — not this year. The delay of opening day at the ski resort has left everyone in a funk, but instead of throwing a Turkey Day pity party we thought we would remind ourselves of everything for which we are thankful.

There are the obvious things: Friends. Family. Love. Chocolate. There are also the things that we overlook, take for granted. Are you healthy? Do you have enough food to eat? Do you drive your own car?

There are things for which we should be grateful that are even less obvious. We may cringe at the weather here and the lack of snowfall, but we are not dodging cyclones, and our homes have not been swept away by tsunamis or hurricanes. We may decry the erosion of our civil liberties, but in places like Singapore it is a crime to spit on a sidewalk. And maybe we never feel like we have enough money, but we are not making Nikes in a third world sweatshop, either.

So be thankful for the beautiful mountains around us. The crisp fall air. The huge plate of food that you will be eating today. And don’t worry, the snow will come. It always does.

What Are You Thankful For?
